Thursday, June 5, 6:30 - 8 PM
700 Boylston Street, Boston, MA
The Political Mind: Why You Can't Understand 21st Century American Politics with an 18th Century Brain Description: Professor George Lakoff, author of Moral Politics: How Liberals and Conservatives Think, Whose Freedom?, and Don't Think of an Elephant!, explores the connections between cognitive science and political action. Why do many Americans vote against their own interests? Humans, he argues, are not the rational creatures we've so long imagined ourselves to be. And savvy political campaigns should not assume people will use objective reasoning when deciding how to vote. Lakoff joins us tonight to discuss his new book, The Political Mind, and explore how the mind works, how society works, and how they work together. FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC For more information please visit our website www.fordhallforum. org, email us at info@fordhallforum. org or call us at 617-557-2007.

Submitting Events
The Democratic Dispatch is a more or less weekly e-mail newsletter for Democratic events across the state. Your editors are Kate Donaghue and Pace Willisson. We edit this as volunteers as our way of promoting the Democratic Party, Democratic candidates and the Democratic Platform. The positions represented in the regular "Greetings from Kate" or "Greetings from Pace" reflect our personal positions, and not those of the Democratic Party.

Replies to the Dispatch come only to us, unlike some other Yahoo groups.

Please do send us events. We want to publicize what you are doing. Please send events with the subject line "For The Dispatch" so that we can find them easily. Also, it helps to keep the information right in the body of the e-mail. We usually go to press for Friday AM. Please send to ddemdispatch- owner@yahoogroup s.com. Thanks!

I also look for you to send me appropriate jokes. I appreciate all of the submissions, but there are some that I keep in my "censored jokes" file.

E-Mail Lists
SEND ME INFORMATION ON YOUR LIST If your list is not listed here, or the information that I have needs to be changed, just send an e-mail to DDemDispatch- owner@yahoogroup s.com.

Please sign up for the lists that suit your needs. If it turns out a list doesn't suit you, just opt out. In some, but not all of these groups, it helps to write a note as to why you want to join. Just as an FYI, in some groups, the groups is configured so a message is not seen. So let the owner know who you are.
